About Me
I have been giving shoulder and back massages since
my teen years, but for the last seven years I have been working as an
Administrative Assistant. For as long as I can remember friends and
family have commented on my strength and endurance while giving a massage.
Although I was untrained, I had a knack even then to work out tension.
I have always desired to really know the theory and techniques of massage.
In 2001, I had both the opportunity and ability to pursue this knowledge.
I must confess it was never my intention to make a career change. I
simply wanted the knowledge. Needless to say, I discovered a skill I
enjoy and a subject of study I find fascinating -- the human body.
My approach to massage is western at its root. My massages
are a reflection of the body as a biochemical electrical machine. I
look to my knowledge in anatomy and physiology to determine why pain
exists and what should be done about it. If you are looking for spiritual
or transcendental experience, I am not the therapist you are looking
for.
Part of the requirements for maintaining a license and
insurance is continuing education in massage. It is my desire to refine
my knowledge in Trigger Point and Neuromuscular Therapy. I believe that
these two methods are essential to effective pain management.
